Oral Health Partnership School-Based ProgramsSchool-Based Programs

OHP visits schools in the De Pere, Denmark, Green Bay, Howard-Suamico, Pulaski and West De Pere School Districts as well as Encompass, and Head Start to provide essential dental services to students who qualify. Services include exams, x-rays, cleanings and other key care.

In some schools, we have permanent spaces for kids to visit the dentist. In others, we use any available space and bring in our mobile equipment, and set up a little dental clinic. Each year we visit more than 35 schools and see nearly 4,000 kids right at school!

For our school-based visits, students will be out of class for about 30-45 minutes for a screening, x-rays, cleaning and varnishing. After the student is done, they will be given instructions to take home to their parents or guardians on further treatment needed or tips for good oral health.

Check out our resources for tools on oral health that you can use before and after OHP’s visit to your classroom.

School-Based Program FAQs

What can my student eat after getting fluoride on their teeth?

Students should avoid hot drinks and hard, crunchy foods for the day. They should wait until bedtime to brush their teeth so the fluoride can be on their teeth for at least six hours.

Will the students have pain/discomfort after their visit?

The majority of the work done at school visits is teeth cleanings and oral health education. We don’t do anything at the visit that should cause any pain. But if they are experiencing pain, have their parent or guardian give us a call.
